Biographical Information[edit]

Leodegario Longoria pitched for the Mexican national team in the 1990 Goodwill Games. In the 1990 Baseball World Cup, he was 0-1 with a 10.03 ERA (the team ERA was 9.09) in four games. He allowed 26 hits (3 homers) and 7 walks in 11 2/3 IP while striking out 7. He led the team in games pitched and tied Roberto Garza for second in innings (two behind Victor Gaxiola). Playing offense briefly, he was much better, going 4 for 6 with a walk, homer and four RBI on a team that hit .262/.306/.409.

He also appeared for Mexico in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, with a 1-1, 7.41 record (team ERA of 6.88). He led the team with 17 innings pitched (in which he allowed 21 hits and 12 walks while whiffing four). He was not used on offense despite his 1990 success there. He also was with Mexico for the 1991 Pan American Games.
