Victor Gaxiola pitched for the Mexican national team in the 1990 Goodwill Games and 1990 Baseball World Cup. In the latter event, he had a save and a 7.24 ERA in three outings, allowing 22 hits and 4 walks in 13 2/3 IP while striking out two. He led Mexico in IP and saved Mexico's lone win in the first round, Roberto Garza's 6-5 victory over Italy, throwing 1 2/3 shutout frames to close it out.
