Biographical Information[edit]
Leo Fishel pitched one day in the majors in 1899. At age 21, he pitched a nine-inning complete game for the New York Giants on May 3rd but gave up 7 runs and was charged with a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Leo was born in Babylon, NY on Long Island and attended Columbia University from 1896-1899. Eddie Collins was there a bit later, from 1904 to 1907.
Fishel also pitched in the minors in 1899, but that was apparently later in the season, so he was presumably straight out of college when he played for the Giants.
SABR has a biography of him, indicating that after his brief baseball career, he returned to Columbia to complete his law degree and later became a successful lawyer. He also served as president of the electric light company and of a bank in his hometown.
