Biographical Information[edit]
Li Lei has played regularly for the Chinese national team. He played for them in the 2005 Baseball World Cup as a 21-year-old, going 1 for 7 as a backup left fielder. He appeared in the first Konami Cup, in 2005, and would be in the event in 2006 and 2007 as well. In the 2006 World Baseball Classic, he was 1 for 2 with a double and a run; his hit came in the 9th inning against Taiwan, pinch-hitting for Lingfeng Sun against Hong-Chih Kuo. He was in the 2006 Asian Games and was 2 for 18 with a walk during 2006 Haarlem Baseball Week. He was 1 for 1 in the 2007 Arizona Fall League. He participated in the 2008 Olympics, batting .208/.269/.250 and handling 43 chances without an error as China's starting second baseman.
