Biographical Information[edit]
Silas "Lefty" Herring was an amateur player who played twice in the majors for the Washington Senators. The first time he was a pitcher, and the second time he was a position player. He was a teenager in his first appearance in the majors.
He is the first of four major leaguers named Herring.
