Biographical Information[edit]
Leen Staub was with Neptunus for over 50 years. He played for the team when it was in the Dutch minors. He was head coach of Neptunus in the early 1970s became first base coach in the 1979, a role he held for years, a period in which they made the Hoofdklasse. He was known for making jokes with players on both teams and umpires to keep the game lively. Neptunus won the Hoofdklasse title in 1981 and the 1991 Holland Series while he was coaching for them, as well as getting a Silver Medal in the 1992 European Cup. He ended his coaching career after 1992 but returned to assist for one more season in 1996. He also was groundskeeper for Neptunus for many years and helped organize the first World Port Tournament.
