Biographical Information[edit]

Lee Gardner was a AAA closer for most of his career, amassing 131 minor league saves after starting his career as an undrafted free agent by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. After earning 30 saves for the 2006 Toledo Mud Hens he signed as a free agent with the Florida Marlins. Gardner excelled with the Marlins in 2007, appearing in 62 games while posting a 1.94 ERA. That was the highlight of his big league career - he played parts of three other seasons at that level, but never pitched in more than 12 games (or posted an ERA under 4.05) in a season.

Gardner was voted into the International League Hall of Fame in 2017, alongside executive Max Schumacher.
