Biographical Information[edit]

Pepper Davis was a ten-year veteran of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. She was a catcher for four clubs, most prominently the Grand Rapids Chicks.

Paire began her career in 1944 with the Minneapolis Millerettes. She also played with the Fort Wayne Daisies and Racine Belles before landing in Grand Rapids for the 1948 season. In Grand Rapids, she was an all star catcher. She had her best season in 1950, when she hit .249 with 16 doubles and 70 RBIs. The next summer, she led the circuit with 84 runs batted in.

During the 1952 season, Paire returned to Fort Wayne, and she retired to California after the 1953 season. She raised three children. In 1991, she was a technical advisor for the film A League of Their Own. The character played by Geena Davis is based on Paire.
