Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Larry Stanford played in the New York Yankees system from 1989 to 1992 and in the Colorado Rockies system in 1994. He was taken by the Yankees in the 6th round of the 1989 amateur draft, one pick ahead of outfielder Darrell Sherman and a few ahead of pitcher Paul Quantrill.

He was 4-3 with a 3.83 ERA in 15 starts for the Oneonta Yankees his first year, then he shifted to the bullpen where he became a star. With the Fort Lauderdale Yankees in 1990, he was 3-1, 1.31 with 53 games finished and 29 saves in 57 appearances; he followed that with 24 saves, 41 games finished and a 1.89 ERA in 52 appearances for the Albany-Colonie Yankees in 1991. He was a Florida State League All-Star in 1990, with the other reliever being Barry Manuel. He reached Triple-A for the first time in 1992, going 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 2 appearances for the Columbus Clippers. In that year's Rule V draft, he was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers, but never played in their system. After not playing in 1993, he returned with the New Haven Ravens in the Rockies chain in 1994, posting a mark of 9.00 in 6 appearances.

Overall, Stanford went 9-9 with 54 saves and 97 games finished in 132 games over 5 seasons. His ERA was 2.74.
