Biographical Information

Larry Geracioti was a longtime college coach.

Geracioti was in the US Air Force in World War II, serving in both Europe and the Pacific and retiring as a captain. He also served in the Korean War. He was assistant football and basketball coach and physical education instructor at the University of New Mexico in 1952. He taught at Boston University from 1953-1958 then taught at Columbia University in 1958-1959.

Larry was at New York University from 1959-1974, serving as head football coach, assistant basketball coach and head baseball coach. He went 245-45 in 10 years as head baseball coach, guiding the team to third place in the 1969 College World Series, the school's best finish ever at a College World Series (through 2010). He coached the USA to a Bronze Medal in the 1973 Intercontinental Cup.

From 1974-1978, he was athletic director of Wagner College, then held the same role at the University of Detroit from 1979-1981. After several years away from college, he coached Georgetown University from 1986-1993, winning 110 games. The team won the Big East Conference in 1986; no Georgetown team would be above .500 for at least two decades.

Geracioti also worked with the USA Deaf National Team and USA Native American Team. In 2008, he was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
