Biographical Information[edit]

Larry Fritz appeared in just one big league game, coming to the plate as a pinch hitter.

Born and raised in northwest Indiana, Fritz played baseball, basketball, and football in high school before attending Arizona State University. He was selected by the New York Mets in the 1969 amateur draft and played four seasons in their organization. Prior to the 1974 season, he was acquired by the Philadelphia Phillies. The next summer, he made his only big league appearance on May 30th. In the bottom of the 9th inning of a game against the Houston Astros, he stepped to the plate to pinch hit for pitcher Larry Christenson but flew out to left field to end the game.

In 1976, Fritz played in the Mexican League. Following his baseball days, he was a truck driver.
