Larry Downes
Larry Downes was an Olympic player.
Downes played for the Canadian national team in the 1980s. He was named the All-Star catcher in the 1982 Amateur World Series (hitting .412/.474/.441, 7th in average, between Doug McPhail and Jordan Berge) and also played in the 1981 Intercontinental Cup, 1983 Intercontinental Cup, 1983 Pan American Games, 1984 Olympics, 1985 Intercontinental Cup, 1987 Intercontinental Cup and 1987 Pan American Games. He later was a baseball columnist for the The Globe and Mail.
