Lawrence J. Claflin

Biographical Information[edit]

Larry Claflin was a sports writer and columnist with Boston Herald American for approximately 30 years, starting in the the late nineteen forties as an office boy with what was then the Evening American (and would later become the Record American and, ultimately, the H-A). In 1976, Claflin joined colleague Clif Keane, formerly of the Boston Globe, to co-host "Clif and Claf" on WITS radio, one of the first sports talk radio shows. Two years later, Claflin would leave the Herald to work full-time at WITS, and in 1980 he was named the station's sports director, sadly, just one year before his fatal heart attack.
