Lakewood, NJ
(Redirected from Lakewood Township, NJ)
Lakewood Township is located in eastern New Jersey, immediately north of Toms River, NJ and 20 miles east of Trenton, NJ.
Because of World War II travel restrictions, the New York Giants held their spring training here, on an estate that formerly belonged to billionaire John D. Rockefeller, in 1943. They had one of the worst seasons in team history, but, undaunted, they returned there the next two years, until the war ended and restrictions were lifted.
