Biographical Information[edit]

Dick Estelle went to Lakewood (NJ) High School, where he had an 11-2 record with an 0.38 ERA, averaging 12 strikeouts per each 7 innings. In the minors he pitched for the Salem Rebels, Eugene Emeralds, Fresno Giants, Springfield Giants, Tacoma Giants, Phoenix Giants, Waterbury Giants, Denver Bears, and Evansville Triplets.

He was the one of the youngest pitchers on the San Francisco Giants staff in both the years he was up with them, 1964 and 1965. In 1965, the team's staff featured not only Juan Marichal and Gaylord Perry, but also 44-year-old Warren Spahn. Estelle was 23 at the time, and only Masanori Murakami was younger.
