Biographical Information[edit]
Kyoji Nishihara pitched for five seasons in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Nishihara allowed four hits in six at-bats for the Nishitetsu Lions in 1956, with three runs in one inning and losses in both appearances. He was 2-1 with a 2.47 ERA and .218 opponent average in 1957. The Lions won the 1957 Japan Series but Nishihara gave up a hit to the lone batter he faced. He was 0-1 with a 4.97 ERA and .314 average allowed in 12 outings in 1958.
Moving to the Hiroshima Carp, the southpaw went 1-3 with a 3.88 ERA in 1959 and allowed five runs (two earned) in sixteen innings in 1960. Overall, he had a 3-7, 3.35 record in 70 games in NPB.
After retirement, he ran a sporting goods store. Of Korean descent, Nishihara also ran a Korean-Japanese baseball club.
