Biographical Information[edit]
Kyle Ettisch caught for the South African national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He appeared in one game, replacing Kyle Botha in the 5th inning of a 13-3 loss to Spain, with the score already 9-1. He drove in South Africa's final run, grounding home Brett Willemburg while facing Jose Cruz in the 6th. In the 9th, he struck out versus Manny Olivera.
In the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he was again the backup to Botha. He did not get into a game in the field but did play twice. He pinch-ran for Keegan Swanepoel in the 9th inning of a loss to Australia. In the finale, also against Australia, he pinch-hit for Kyron Bibis in the 7th and drew a walk from Peter Moylan. Benjamin Smith then ran for him.
