Kurt Peltzer pitched in the San Francisco Giants system from 1990 to 1994, in independent ball in 1995 and in the CPBL in 1996. He briefly played at Triple-A, but never reached the major leagues.

He was taken by San Francisco in the 11th round of the 1990 amateur draft, a couple picks after pitcher Jay Powell. In 1993, he was 8-6 in 59 games between two clubs, including a 2-0, 6.75 line for the Triple-A Phoenix Firebirds, and in 1994, he had 2.84 mark in 39 games for the Shreveport Captains. He moved to indy ball for 1995, going 13-5, 3.75 in 22 games (21 starts) for the Long Beach Barracudas, and in 1996, he was 2-3, 4.74 in 12 games (4 starts) for the CPBL's Brother Elephants. On July 29, 1995, while with Long Beach, he threw a no-hitter against the Tri-City Posse.

Overall, he went 21-18 with a 3.40 ERA in 201 games (5 starts) in the Giants system and 36-26 with a 3.61 ERA in 235 games (30 start) at all levels. In 561 1/3 total innings, he allowed 541 hits and 176 walks (1.277 WHIP), while striking out 410 batters.
