Biographical Information[edit]

Kuan-Yu Shih played in the CPBL.

Shih represented Taiwan in the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup, hitting .348/.400/.652 as their main left fielder. He tied for 4th with four doubles. He was also with them for the 2017 Universiade and 2018 World University Championship. In the latter event, he batted .238/.296/.476 with six RBI in six games, leading in fielding (53 TC, 0 E). He went undrafted in the 2018 CPBL Draft, and the Uni-President Lions signed him. Shih hit .308/.440/.513 in the minor league in 2019, but he was 0-for-8 with the big club.

He slumped to .196/.315/.217 in the minors in 2020, then he bounced back with a .327/.391/.500 batting line in 2021. Thus, he won a spot with the big club in 2022, and he hit .200/.257/.285 in 53 games there. Shih was placed in the minor league again in 2023, and he only played 15 games with the big club. He was 0-for-2 in the 2023 CPBL Playoff Series, and the Rakuten Monkeys eliminated the Lions in 3 games.
