Biographical Information[edit]
Kosuke Maeda pitched for five years in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Maeda was a first-round pick of the Lotte Orions in the 1969 NPB draft after having played for Den Den Shikoku in the industrial leagues. He was 0-1 with a 5.66 ERA in 18 games as a rookie in 1970. In the 1970 Japan Series, the lefty faced three batters in game five - he retired one, walked one and allowed one hit. Lotte fell to the Yomiuri Giants. In 1971, he improved to 1-1, 3.86 in 18 games, but was 0-5 with a 5.67 ERA, .355 opponent average and 2.16 WHIP in 19 contests in 1972. In 1973, he allowed three hits and three runs while retiring only one batter. He ended with the Taiheiyo Club Lions, giving up five runs in two innings in 1974. The next three years were entirely in the minors, then he retired. In NPB, his career record was 1-7, 5.87 with a .305 opponent average and 1.88 WHIP. He later was the batting practice pitcher for the Seibu Lions.
