Biographical Information[edit]
Kokichi Akune has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.
Akune represented Japan in the 1998 Asian Games. The Nippon Ham Fighters drafted him in the fifth round of the 1998 NPB draft. Akune spent the vast majority of his first four years of his career in the NPB Farm Leagues, only having 75 at-bats combined with the big club. He hit .248/.317/.292 in 82 games in 2003, but he only had 26 at-bats in 2004 due to a injury. He was placed in the ni-gun in the whole 2005 season, and he announced his retirement after that season.
Overall, Akune had hit .231/.287/.300 in 6 seasons in NPB.
