Biographical Information[edit]

Kohei Sasagawa represented Japan in the 2012 U-18 Baseball World Cup, hitting .233/.333/.333 with six runs in nine games. He played excellent defense in right, with 13 putouts, 3 assists and no miscues. He tied for 4th with 3 HBP. He played for Tokyo Gas in the industrial leagues after college. He helped the Japanese national team win the 2017 Asian Championship; the outfielder hit .273/.550/.273 with 7 walks and 6 runs in 5 games while having 7 putouts, one assist and no errors. He led the event in walks, drawing more than either than the entire Sri Lankan national team (6) or Pakistani national team (5). He nearly doubled runners-up Min-seob Song and Shunta Tanaka, who each had four.
