Biographical Information[edit]

A cleanup-hitting center fielder and team captain in high school, Kiyoshi Maeda dropped out of college due to illness. In the spring of 1936, he joined Nagoya and hit .284/.314/.448 in 16 games, but dropped to .123/.123/.222 in 22 games in the fall campaign. In the spring of '37, he batted .213/.263/.281 before being drafted into the military, having hit .205/.239/.302 in the Japanese Professional Baseball League. He died a year later, killed in combat in China during World War II.
