Biographical Information[edit]

Reliever Kirk Clark played in the Houston Astros system from 2009 to 2012 and independent ball from 2012 to 2014. He was signed by Houston as an undrafted free agent.

He was 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in 10 appearances for the Tri-City ValleyCats in 2009, striking out 24 batters and posting a 0.895 WHIP in 19 innings. His ERA jumped to 4.07 in 52 games for the Lexington Legends in 2010, though he paced the South Atlantic League with 29 saves, 1 ahead of runner-up AJ Ramos. Pitching for the Lancaster JetHawks in 2011 and 2012, he posted ERAs of 7.01 and 5.36 in 53 and 35 games, respectively. He had 19 saves the former year and 8 the latter. In his first taste of indy ball in 2012, he had a 0.00 ERA in 10 appearances for the Schaumburg Boomers. His mark slipped to 3.86 in 2013 and 7.64 in 2014.

Overall, Clark went 15-16 with 54 saves and a 5.04 ERA in 234 appearances over 6 seasons. In 246 2/3 innings, he allowed 275 hits and 111 walks, while striking out 216 batters.

Clark spent six years as an assistant at Wayne State College and 2022 as pitching coach at South Dakota State University. He was named head coach at Ellsworth Community College for 2023.
