Kingston, ON
Kingston is located in the eastern part of Ontario, at the point where Lake Ontario narrows to become the Saint-Lawrence River. It is 110 miles south of Ottawa, ON and was briefly the capital of Canada, alternating with Montreal, QC, until the upstart lumber town of Bytown took over the function in 1867. Kingston is now known for its unique combination of hosting two universities, a Canadian Forces base, and a number of penitentiaries.
