Biographical Information

Ki-hyuk Park was the shortstop for the Lotte Giants for several years.

Park debuted with the 2000 Lotte Giants, going 1 for 3. He went 8 for 56 at the plate with 3 doubles, a homer and 3 walks in 47 games in 2001. In 2002, he hit .243/~.290/.287 in 66 games. He followed in '03 with a batting line of .246/~.322/.338 in 95 contests. He slumped to .203/~.273/.288 in 131 games in 2004 and stole 11 bases in 15 tries.

In 2005, Park batted .278/~.349/.361 for Lotte. He hit .252/~.329/.297 in 2006 and then played for South Korea in the 2006 Asian Games, when they won Bronze. In 2007, he slipped to .222/~.316/.271. Park improved significantly in the 2008 KBO season, producing at a .291/.364/.342 clip and stealing 16 bases in 23 tries. That won him a Gold Glove as the best overall shortstop in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Park was South Korea's starting shortstop in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, when they finished second. He was just 3 for 26 with 3 walks, a triple, one run and 4 RBI in 9 games.

Through 2008, his career batting line is .246/~.318/.314 in 796 games.
