Biographical Information[edit]
Kevin Coughlin spent nine years in the minor leagues, from 1989 to 1997. Though he reached Triple A three times, hit as high as .372 in a campaign and showed good speed and on-base ability, he never reached the major leagues.
He began his career in the Chicago White Sox system, playing there from 1989 to 1995. In his third professional campaign, 1991, he hit .304/.392/.341 with 19 stolen bases in 131 games between two low-level teams. In 1993, he slashed .313/.373/.384 in 114 games, which included his first stint at Triple A (two games, .571 average) and in 1995, he hit .372/.439/.496 in 106 games. He moved to the Boston Red Sox system in 1996 and the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds systems in 1997 to wrap up his career.
Overall, he slashed .297/.369/.357 with 10 home runs, 250 RBI and 78 stolen bases in 784 games. He averaged one home run every 300.8 plate appearances.
