Biographical Information[edit]
Kevin Brandt was a first-round pick who lasted less than two full seasons in the minors.
Brandt impressed the Minnesota Twins during a one-day workout in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, showing very good power. The Twins took him with the 11th overall pick of the 1979 amateur draft based on this performance, right after Steve Buechele and Tim Wallach. While Brandt did not pan out, the Twins did well the next two rounds, getting Randy Bush and Tim Laudner. Brandt debuted with the 1979 Elizabethton Twins and hit only .161/.272/.204 with 41 strikeouts and one homer in 137 at-bats. He fielded .893 in the outfield, with six errors. He was 0 for 5 with a walk, hit-by-pitch, run and three strikeouts for Elizabethton the next year and was released.
