Biographical Information[edit]
Kesley Kondo has pitched for the Brazilian national team. His brother Kelvin Kondo has been a scout.
Kondo hit .368 and had a 3.10 ERA in high school. He was 1-3 with a 4.87 ERA in junior college in 2010. In 2011, he transferred to Utah and struggled at 0-3, 9.82 but did strike out 33 in 25 2/3 IP. He improved to 0-1, 3.40 to lead Utah in ERA as a senior in '12. He then was with Brazil for the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. In his lone outing, he relieved Murilo Gouvea with two on, one out and a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 8th against host Panama. He retired two former major leaguers, Rubén Rivera and Jose Macias, on grounders, to escape that jam. Thyago Vieira relieved in the 9th. Brazil went on to win the pool and go to the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
