Biographical Information[edit]

Keon Barnum was a 2012 first-round selection.

Barnum hit .491 as a high school junior (setting the record at a school which had produced a few major leaguers) and had a University of Miami commitment when the Chicago White Sox picked him 48th overall in the 2012 amateur draft. The choice was compensation for the loss of Mark Buehrle to free agency. He was Chicago's second first-rounder of 2012, following Courtney Hawkins. He soon signed and made his pro debut with the Bristol White Sox in June 19th, hitting 6th and playing 1B. He went 0 for 3 as Bristol suffered a 7-2 loss, getting two-hit by Joe Musgrove and 3 relievers on Opening Day.
