Biographical Information[edit]

Kenji Tomura pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Tomura was drafted by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles in the first round of the 2009 NPB draft, and he had a 7.27 ERA in 4 games in his first season. He was 0-3 with a 3.92 ERA in 2011, then he went 3-2 with a 3.79 ERA in 2012. Tamura started 12 games with a 4-2 record and a 3.33 ERA in 2013, but he struggled in 2014 and he only played 5 games with a 10.13 ERA. He had his career year in 2015, and he was 7-11 with a 3.48 ERA. He was 2nd in losses, 1 behind Ayumu Ishikawa. He slumped to 1-5 with a 4.41 ERA in 2016, and he had a 2-1 record with a 6.23 ERA in 2017. Tomura only pitched 8 more games for the big club, and he announced his retirement after the 2019 season. He became an assistant coach for Rikkyo University in 2024.

Overall, Tomura was 17-25 with a 4.35 ERA, struck out 222 and pitched 378 1/3 innings in 10 seasons in the NPB.
