Biographical Information

Kenichiro Okamoto has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Okamoto was signed by the Hankyu Braves in 1955. He played the outfield and first base in his rookie year, hitting .268/.328/.375 with 4 homers. Okamoto improved to .240/.316/.337 with 8 homers in 1956. 1957 was Okamoto's career year. He played all 132 games, recorded a .271/.371/.411 batting line and led the league in walks with 74. He won the only Best Nine award of his career as a first baseman. However, 1957 was the last productive season for Okamoto's career. He only batted .168/.259/.240 in 1958, and was used as backup infielder since this season. Okamoto announced his retirement after the 1963 season.

Overall, Okamoto had hit .238/.315/.340 in 9 seasons in NPB.
