Biographical Information

Nebraska native Ken Brondell spent four active seasons in professional baseball from 1941 to 1945. He spent parts of one season, from May 3, 1944 to October 1, in the Major Leagues with the New York Giants. Ken appeared in seven games, pitched 19 1/3 innings, giving up 27 hits and 18 earned runs for an 8.38 ERA and an 0-1 record. He was also in the International League with the Jersey City Giants in 1944, pitching 140 innings in 24 games for a 4.05 ERA and a 13-6 record. Ken's first season in the minor leagues, with the 1941 Salisbury Giants of the Class D North Carolina State League, shows he had a 16-6 record with a 2.98 ERA while pitching 178 innings in 23 games. He served in the United States Army in 1943, during World War II, and finished his minor league career in 1945 at 51-38, pitching 700 innings in 117 games.

Brondell died on October 3, 2004 at the age of 82 at his home in Van Nuys, CA.
