Biographical Information[edit]
Kazuhiro Sato has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and the Japanese national team. He used Punch Sato as his name in NPB.
Sato was on the Japanese national team in the 1989 Asian Championship and 1989 Intercontinental Cup. The Orix Braves drafted him in the first round of the 1989 NPB draft. He shined in his rookie year, when he hit .331/.360/.444 in 42 games. However, he slumped to .231/.268/.369 in 1991, and his batting got even worse with a .162/.233/.162 line in 1992. Sato only had 25 at-bats combined in the next two seasons, then he announced his retirement after the 1994 season.
Overall, Sato had hit .273/.306/.373 in 5 seasons in NPB.
