Kaye Greenham

Biographical Information

Kaye Greenham was a player, coach and physician in Australian baseball circles.

He led the Western Australia Baseball League in average in 1957 (.412, at age 17; the youngest to lead that loop in average), 1961 (.444), 1965 (.372) and 1971 (.365). In 1959, he turned down a contract with the New York Yankees due to his medical studies; no Australian had played in the US minors to that point. He played for the Western Australia state baseball team from 1957, 1959-1962, 1967 and 1970-1974, missing some seasons as he was in university studying to be a doctor. He pitched a no-hitter in the 1967 Claxton Shield against South Australia. He was a coach for Western Australia from 1978-1980. He was the Western Australia Baseball League Honorary Physician from 1967-1997. He was the Australian national team physician for the 1978 Amateur World Series.

In 2014, he was elected to the Baseball Australia Hall of Fame in a class with Brendan Kingman and Phil Alexander.
