Biographical Information[edit]
Karl Malecek coached for the Czech Republic in the 2010 World Junior Championship after he was unable to provide documentation in time to play for the team; the event was held in his homeland of Canada. Malecek's father was from Bohemia. Karl was 1-3 with a 5.10 ERA as a college freshman in 2012 and improved to 6-3, 3.36 as a sophomore. After the college season ended, the Czech-Canadian hurler signed on with Draci Brno in the Czech Republic. He was 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA in three relief outings in the 2013 European Cup, getting the victory in a 1-0 win over the Rouen Huskies after relieving Martin Schneider. Malecek was 1-0 with a save and a 0.82 ERA after his first three games in the Extraliga.
