Biographical Information[edit]

Kaname Aoi pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.

Aoi was drafted by the Nankai Hawks in the third round of the 1982 NPB draft, but he spent his first three seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues, only pitching 8 appearances combined with the big club. After the 1985 season, he suffered from a left elbow injury and missed two seasons. Aoi then stayed in the ni-gun until the 1990 season. He joined their bullpen in that season, and he led the Pacific League with 49 appearances while having a 5.61 ERA. He struggled in 1991 as his ERA was 6.92 in 19 games, and he only pitched 8 more games with the big club before he announced his retirement in 1994.

Overall, Aoi was 0-1 with a 6.41 ERA, struck out 32 and pitched 59 innings in 5 years in NPB.
