Biographical Information[edit]

Justin Brunette pitched four times for the division-winning St. Louis Cardinals in 2000, a year in which the league ERA was 4.63. He was one of the youngest players on a team which featured oldsters such as 36-year-old Mark McGwire, 38-year-old Eric Davis, 37-year-old Shawon Dunston, 36-year-old Will Clark and 34-year-old Heathcliff Slocumb. In 4 2/3 innings, Brunette's ERA was 5.79. He also received an at bat, singling off Scott Karl of the Colorado Rockies in his debut, and finished his career with a batting average of 1.000.

He had Tommy John surgery in 1998, but afterwards worked his way up to the majors. In 2001 and 2002, he pitched for Binghamton and Norfolk, in the New York Mets organization. He attended Ocean View High School and was at San Diego State at the same time as Travis Lee and Jeff Davanon.
