Biographical Information

Julie Croteau was the second woman to play in NCAA baseball, when she played first base for the St. Mary's Seahawks in 1989. She played for the Colorado Silver Bullets in 1994 and hit .074 (4 for 54) with no extra-base hits. Later that year, she became one of two women, along with Lee Anne Ketcham, ever to have played in an MLB-sanctioned winter league, the Hawaii Winter League. Croteau went 1 for 12 for the Maui Stingrays. She was a coach at Western New England College before becoming the first female coach in a men's NCAA Division I baseball program, when she became an assistant at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 1995; she stayed there through 1996. In 2006, Croteau was named the head coach of the United States Women's National Baseball Team which will compete later in the year at the Women's World Cup. She was an assistant coach with the team for the previous two years.
