Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Julian Aguiar was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 12th round of the 2021 amateur draft from Cypress College. He rose up the organization's ranks quickly, going 3-0, 3.12 for the ACL Reds in 2021, then 7-8, 3.46 for two Class A affiliates in 2022. In 2023, he was 8-5, 2.95 between the Dayton Dragons and Chattanooga Lookouts, establishing himself as a top pitching prospect in an organization loaded with promising young players.

In 2024, he started the season back in AA with Chattanooga and was 2-3, 3.38 in 13 starts to earn a promotion to AAA for the first time. With the Louisville Bats, he went 3-1, 4.40 in 9 starts before the call to the Show came quicker than anticipated, the result of Reds ace Hunter Greene having to miss a scheduled start against the Toronto Blue Jays on August 19th. He stepped in by pitching 4 innings, giving up 2 runs; one of them came on a monster solo homer by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the 1st inning when he left a slider handing in the strike zone. Overall, however, the Reds had to be satisfied with his outing, and they went on to win the game, 6-3.
