Biographical information[edit]

Juei Ushiromatsu is a former minor league baseball pitcher who played in the New York Mets organization in 1998. he was signed on November 26, 1997 at the urging of scout Isao Ojimi. He was the first Japanese player to sign directly out of high school with a major league organization without playing any professional baseball in Japan. ([1])

He made 16 relief appearances for the GCL Mets in 1998, going 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA. In 26 innings, he allowed 39 hits but had 27 strikeouts.
