Biographical Information[edit]
Juan Zapata was an outfielder who played in the lower levels of the Houston Astros minor league system from 1998-1999. In his two seasons he hit .266/.300/.332 while appearing in 66 games.
Zapata returned to the Astros organization in 2009 as an outfield coach for the DSL Astros. He remained in this same role through 2014. Zapata moved to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization as an outfield coach with the DSL Angels through the 2022 season. He is scheduled to return in 2023.
In 2010 and 2016 Zapata was not listed in news sources or on Astros & Angels rosters as a coach. It is possible he did not coach those years, but it is also possible the sources simply overlooked him.
