Biographical Information[edit]
Juan Medina pitched seven seasons in the Cuban Serie Nacional. He was 0-1 with a 15.55 ERA and 2.82 WHIP in 7 games for Citricultores in 1988-1989. After missing a year, he was 0-2 with a 9.35 ERA and 2.54 WHIP in 1990-1991 and had a 2-5, 3.99 record in 1991-1992, making major strides. He skipped another season then was 1-0 with a 5.75 ERA for Matanzas in 1993-1994 and 1-0, 5.17 with a save the next season. He was 6th in the league with 26 appearances the latter campaign.
In 1995-1996, he was 2-3 with 3 saves and a 6.00 ERA but he rebounded to 7-2 with a save and a 2.58 ERA in 1996-1997. He was signed by the Taipei Gida in 1998, but he had a 8.10 ERA in 2 games and the Gida released him in August. The Taichung Agan picked him up, and Medina went 2-2 with a 4.26 ERA for them. He left Taiwan before the 1999 season. He had gone 13-13 with 5 saves and a 5.60 ERA in 109 games in Cuba.
