Juan Torriente has been an infielder in Cuba.

Torriente hit .254/.367/.328 and fielded .971 as a backup for the Metropolitanos in 2005-2006, his second season in the Cuban Serie Nacional. He batted .291/.324/.353 while becoming a starter in 2006-2007. In 2007-2008, he hit .312/?/.379 and tied for 7th in triples. The next season, the Havana native produced at a .290/.352/.403 clip and fielded .975 for the Industriales. He tied for second in the league with 18 double plays.

In 2009-2010, Juan hit .279/.333/.388 and fielded .984 for the Industriales. In 2010-2011, the veteran had a breakout year, batting .350/.410/.460 with 24 doubles and 62 runs in 90 games, fielding .971 at his main position (2B). He tied Héctor Olivera Jr. for 6th in at-bats (346), tied Frederich Cepeda for 8th in the league in hits (121), tied Ariel Sánchez for 8th in doubles and was 4th in double-play grounders (19).

Torriente's batting line was .327/.393/.403 in 2011-2012 and he fielded .972. He was put on Cuba's preliminary roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
