Biographical Information[edit]
Andrés Aguilar played in the minors and for the Guatemalan national team.
Aguilar was signed by Baltimore Orioles scouts Fred Ferreira and Ronald Hurtarte in 2012. He hit .234/.298/.279 in 37 games for the 2012 GCL Orioles, splitting left field with fellow Guatemalan Manuel Hernández. He put up very similar numbers (.233/.263/.289 in 32 G) in 2013, going 4-for-5 in steal attempts. He had 30 putouts, 4 assists and no errors. In 2014, he was 4 for 15 with a double, triple and two walks, again with the GCL O's.
He was Guatemala's starting left fielder in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, but went just 1 for 14 with a run. He had three putouts and no assists or errors. He still was one of just four Guatemalans to score in the five games, with Juan Montes and Dennis Hurtarte each scoring one and Hernández scoring three times. In the 2017 Central American Games, he hit .409/.458/.500 to place 9th in the event in average and tie Darrel Campbell and major leaguer Cheslor Cuthbert for 8th in slugging. He stole four bases to tie Juan Colato for the event lead. Guatemala won the Bronze.
