Biographical Information[edit]
Josman Robles has been a scout, minor league player, manager and coach.
Robles played for the Atlanta Braves from 1988-1990. He hit .273/.329/.322 for the 1988 GCL Braves and fielded .990 as a backup first baseman. He went 0 for 1 for the 1988-1989 Tigres de Aragua in the Venezuelan League. With the 1989 GCL Braves, he hit .282/.366/.436 with a team-high 18 doubles and 37 RBI. He led the Gulf Coast League in doubles, was third in RBI and ranked 7th in runs (also 37). He split 1990 between the Sumter Braves (.246/.320/.377 in 71 G) and Durham Bulls (.236/.303/.393 in 32 G) to conclude his US playing career. Josman was 12 for 38 with 3 doubles for the 1990-1991 Tigres.
Robles hit .297/?/.365 in 74 at-bats for the 1991-1992 Aragua club, his most extensive playing time in a Venezuelan League season. He was only 2 for 22 for the 1992-1993 Caribes de Anzoategui. He split 1993-1994 between the Tigres (0 for 3) and the Petroleros de Cabimas (1 for 10). He had hit .250 and slugged .304 in 148 at-bats in his Venezuelan League career.
Robles scouted for the Florida Marlins in Venezuela from 1997-2000, then managed the VSL Marlins in 2001, going 25-30. He was manager of the VSL Red Sox in 2002 and 2004 and VSL Red Sox/Padres in 2005 with records of 31-29, 29-33 and 36-28 and the VSL Tigers from 2006-2010, going 25-46 in 2006, 38-32 in 2007, 24-43 in 2008 and 24-44 in 2009. Robles became a coach for the VSL Tigers in 2011-2015 and GCL Tigers West in 2016.
