Biographical Information

The older brother of Matt Holliday and son of Tom Holliday, Josh Holliday played in the minors and is presently head coach of Oklahoma State University.

Josh was the Gatorade High School Player of the Year for the state of Oklahoma in 1995. The Minnesota Twins selected him in the 14th round of the 1995 amateur draft but he opted for college instead. As a freshman for Oklahoma State, he hit .320/?/.461 as a regular C/3B for the #11 team in the country. He batted .323/?/.614 the next year, helping his father's team to #14 in the country. Holliday joined Josh Bard as the Big 12 Conference All-Conference backstops in 1998, hitting .309 with 18 HR. In 1999, the team returned to top-10 in the nation and the senior catcher/third baseman hit .290/?/.647 with 77 runs and 65 RBI in 221 AB. He was the All-Conference third baseman.

The Toronto Blue Jays picked Josh in the 9th round of the 1999 amateur draft. He debuted professionally with the St. Catharines Stompers and hit .255/~.423/.463 with a team-high 50 runs, 10 homers and 63 walks in 71 games. He led the New York-Penn League in walks.

With the 2000 Hagerstown Suns, Holliday slipped to a .220/.381/.372 batting line with 52 walks in 74 games in a utility role.

From 2000-2003, Holliday was an assistant coach at Oklahoma State before moving on to North Carolina State University in 2004, Georgia Tech in 2005-2007, Arizona State University in 2008-2009 and Vanderbilt University in 2010-2012. He became head coach at Oklahoma State in 2013.

He is also the uncle of Jackson Holliday.
