Biographical Information[edit]

Josh Burrus was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 2001 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Rob English and made his pro debut that year with the GCL Braves, with whom he hit just .193. He improved to .236 with 16 stolen bases for the Danville Braves the next year. After splitting 2003 between Danville and the Rome Braves, he returned to Rome in 2004 and hit .272 with 11 home runs and 30 steals en route to being named the team MVP. He hit 11 homers in 76 games with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2005 and also spent time with the Mississippi Braves and the Richmond Braves. He played for AA Mississippi the next season, hitting just .213 while missing about two months due to injuries. As of June 2007, Burrus continued to struggle at the plate, hitting less than .200 for Mississippi.
