Joseph Olayemi was the catcher for the Nigerian national team that won the Silver Medal in the 1999 All Africa Games, hitting second in the batting order. He hit .389/?/.667 with 6 RBI and four errors in five games. He tied Adeyinka Adewusi and Adedeji Adekunli for the team lead in hits (7) and he was second in RBI, one behind Adewusi. Despite playing catcher, he led the team in errors.
