Biographical Information[edit]

Joseph Mickel was an umpire in two American League games at the end of the 1987 season. Both games were played at Fenway Park between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

Mickel began umpiring professionally in the New York-Penn League in 1980. He moved to the South Atlantic League in 1981 and to the Carolina League in 1982. From 1983 to 1986, he was in the Southern League and was presumably working in AAA when he received his brief call-up to the majors.
